An Easy Fall Treat
I love the flavors of a caramel apple and would always try and get my mom to buy the caramel dip at the store for my apples in my lunch. Apple caramel nachos have all the delicious flavors of a caramel apple in one easy to make treat.
- A delish treat that can be whipped up in no time.
- All the yummy flavors of a caramel apple in one pretty plate. No need to go to the fair to satisfy that caramel apple craving!
- Easier to eat, healthier, and less messy than a traditional caramel apple!
- Pretty enough to serve to guests, but simple enough to whip up a single serving any time your sweet tooth hits!
Ingredients
- apples: I like to use Granny Smith apples as the tartness nicely balances the sweetness of the white chocolate and caramel. I often use the standard apple cutter and then further cut each slice in half. This makes it easy and quick and the apples are the perfect thickness.
- lemon: this is optional, but it will help prevent the apples from browning.
- white chocolate chips: I think the white chocolate takes this to the next level and really gives it the caramel apple flavor.
- caramel sauce: I use an ice cream topping caramel sauce, but any will work in this recipe.
- Skor bits: Use Skor bits, a crushed up Heath bar, or any other toffee chips to top the apples.
Variations: This recipe is so easy to modify to your liking. Switch the white chocolate chips for milk or dark chocolate. Or mix the white chocolate with cream cheese for cheesecake inspired caramel apples.
Try sprinkling chopped nuts, crushed pretzels, grated chocolate, crushed oreos, sprinkles, or a sprinkle of sea salt over the apples. Set up a caramel apple nacho bar and set out the caramel apples with a variety of toppings!
You will also need an apple corer and slicer.
How to Make Caramel Apple Nachos
- Prepare your apples. (Note: I like to slice the apples thinly for a higher topping to apple ratio ;))
- Drizzle over melted white chocolate, caramel sauce, and Skor bits!
PRO TIP: I find it easiest to drizzle the white chocolate by melting it, adding it to a Ziploc, and then snipping off a tiny part of the corner. This makes it very easy to drizzle!
