An Easy Avocado Pasta Sauce
My son LOVES pasta so I am looking for new healthy dishes to make him. This avocado pasta checks all the boxes; healthy, easy, and delicious! Win win!

This pasta is reminiscent of an avocado pesto pasta and we keep coming back for more!
Ingredients
- pasta: any pasta will work just fine in this recipe! I like a long pasta like linguine or fettuccine, but medium kinds of pasta like rotini or penne work just fine too.
- avocados: choose 2 ripe avocados.
- basil: basil adds a wonderful flavor to this recipe. To make it without basil, you can swap baby spinach for the basil (or add in addition) and while it will change the flavor, it will still be delicious.
- garlic
- lemon: lemon makes this pasta bright.
- olive oil
- salt: I add salt to taste because if I am just making this for my baby or toddler I use less, if we are enjoying this as a family I add more!
Variations: Stir in halved cherry tomatoes with the avocado sauce for pasta. Try sprinkling on parmesan cheese, pine nuts, toasted almonds, or red pepper flakes before serving.
You will also need a high-powered blender (or food processor).
How to Make Avocado Pasta
This is really a simple pasta dish to put together that is naturally vegan and vegetarian.
- Cook the pasta to al dente.
- Combine all avocado pasta sauce ingredients together and blend until well combined.
- Toss pasta with pasta sauce and enjoy!
Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 4 days in the fridge.

Creamy Avocado Pasta
Equipment
- Blender
Ingredients
- 8 ounces pasta
- 2 medium avocados
- ½ cup fresh basil leaves lightly packed
- ¼ cup olive oil
- ½ lemon juiced
- 2 cloves garlic
- salt to taste
Instructions
- Cook pasta to al dente according to package directions. Drain the pasta, reserving ½ cup pasta water.
- In the meantime, blend the avocado, basil, olive oil, lemon juice, and garlic. Pulse until fully combined. Taste the sauce and add salt to taste.
- After the pasta is cooked, toss with the avocado sauce, adding pasta water as needed.
