Easy Homemade Granola
This is the homemade granola recipe I have been making for years. It is so easy to customize and turns out perfect every time!
- Prepare in less than 10 minutes.
- Use simple pantry ingredients.
- Customize the ingredients to your liking.
- Perfectly crunchy with granola clusters!
Ingredients
The great thing about granola is how versatile it is. The recipe below is a good starting point, but mix-and-match as you like.
- Oats: Use rolled oats for the best texture. To make this recipe gluten-free, be sure to use certified gluten-free oats.
- Nuts: These can be optional if there is an allergy, but I love the texture and flavor they bring. Pecans are my favorite, but walnuts, almonds, and pistachios are all great options.
- Seeds: I love adding seeds to my granola for added nutrition. Pumpkin seeds (pepitas) are my go-to, but flax seeds, sunflower seeds, hemp hearts, or chia seeds are all great options. Feel free to mix and match depending on what you have on hand.
- Quinoa: Uncooked quinoa adds additional crunch and protein to the granola.
- Salt: Enhances the flavor of the granola and balances the sweetness.
- Cinnamon: Adds warmth and spice to the granola
- Maple Syrup: Can be substituted with honey or agave syrup if desired.
- Olive Oil: Olive oil binds the ingredients together and helps achieve a crispy texture when baked.
- Egg White: The egg white helps bind the ingredients together and create clusters in the granola. If this is not important to you, feel free to leave it out.
Additional Add-Ins: Switch up your spices for nutmeg, ginger, or cardamom for something new every time. For a chocolate-y granola, add in some cocoa powder or chocolate chips right out of the oven. Sprinkle in some coconut flakes or shredded coconut or swirl in some peanut or other nut butter. Dried fruits like raisins, cranberries, or chopped apricots can be added at the end (they get too hard if you add them at the beginning of baking).
How to Make Granola
Pro Tip! Be sure to use parchment paper as the maple syrup makes the granola sticky while baking (trust me, I learned the hard way!).
- Mix together all dry ingredients.
- Stir in the wet ingredients.
- Bake until golden and crispy.
Store in an airtight container for 2 to 3 weeks.
