Why Use Black Beans in Brownies?
It may sound unusual, but black beans create a fudgy texture that mimics traditional brownie batter! Plus, they…
✔ Have plant-based protein to keep you full
✔ Loaded with fiber for digestive health
✔ Are gluten-free and dairy-free

Ingredients
- Black Beans: This is the healthy star of the show. They make these brownies fudgy but also full of nutrients.
- Oats: I tend to only have rolled oats on hand and use those. If using rolled oats instead of quick oats, processing oats before adding the remaining ingredients can help make the batter smoother.
- Maple Syrup
- Vegetable Oil
- Cocoa Powder
- Vanilla Extract
- Baking Powder
- Salt
- Chocolate Chips: Any chocolate chips can be used here. I often use milk chocolate chips because they are my favorite, but semi-sweet works well. Try peanut butter chips for a fun twist!
You will also need a food processor or high-powered blender and an 8 x 8-inch baking pan.

How to Make Black Bean Brownies
- Blend Ingredients: Add all ingredients, except chocolate chips, in a blender or food processor. Blend until smooth.
- Add Mix-Ins: Stir in chocolate chips.
- Bake: Spread in baking pan. Bake just until set.
Let the brownies fully cool before trying to cut otherwise they may not set. It’s hard to resist but they will be easier to eat this way!
Store these brownies in an airtight container for up to 5 days in the refrigerator.
