I love all forms of potatoes. French fries, potato chips, mashed potatoes, and of course, Tater Tots. This loaded tater tots recipe takes the humble potato to the next level.

Ingredients

  • Tater Tots: The base of this recipe. I have also swapped in hashbrown patties for a breakfast treat.
  • Cheddar Cheese: I recommend shredding your own cheese for the best melting results.
  • Toppings: Sour cream, crumbled bacon, and green onions are all. Diced tomatoes, sliced jalapenos, are great options too. A sprinkle of hot sauce is my favorite thing to add. Sky is the limit!

For an extra punch of flavor, sprinkle the tater tots with garlic powder, onion powder, and smoked paprika before baking.

You will also need a baking sheet.

How to Make Loaded Tater Tots

This recipe is simple yet sure to be a crowd-pleaser.

  1. Prepare Tater Tots – Spread the frozen tater tots in a single layer on the baking sheet. For extra crispiness, make sure they’re not overcrowded.
  2. Bake – Pop them in the oven for 20-25 minutes, flipping them halfway through so they cook evenly. When they’re golden and crispy, take them out and prepare to add the cheesy goodness!
  3. Add the Cheese – Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the hot tater tots. Return them to the oven for another 5 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  4. Top with Toppings – Once out of the oven, drizzle with sour cream. My tip is to add the sour cream to a sealed bag and cut off the tip for the perfect drizzle. Sprinkle crumbled bacon and chopped green onions on top.
