This bread works great as a dipper for chili or soup like pumpkin soup, to use as a base for avocado toast or ricotta toast, or to serve as beautiful fresh bread on its own.

Ingredients

  • Flour: I use all purpose flour in this recipe but whole wheat flour can be used as well.
  • Salt
  • Yeast: I have only tried this recipe with instant yeast. If using other yeast such as active yeast, be sure to follow the instructions on the packet to activate.

To make this recipe you will also need a dutch oven.

Optional Add-In Variations

  • Seeds: Add your favorite seeds in the flour mixture or on top of the dough.
  • Fresh Herbs: Sprinkle fresh or dried herbs in the flour mixture or on top of the bread right before baking.
  • Fresh Cracked Pepper/Sea Salt: Sprinkle on top

  1. Mix all ingredients together.
  2. Allow bread dough to rise.
  3. Lightly flour surface and dough. Fold dough over on itself a few times and shape into ball.
  4. Allow dough to have second rise.

Bread Tips and Tricks

The dough will be quite sticky, soft, and shaggy after mixing all ingredients together.

Allow dough to rise overnight in a warm place (approximately 70 F).

Trust the process. After the first few hours it may look like nothing is happening. But after 12 hours you will have fluffy bread dough!

The longer you let the bread rise, the lighter it will be.
