Benefits of a Turmeric Ginger Shot
Taking a ginger and turmeric shot can offer numerous health benefits, thanks to the powerful compounds found in its key ingredients.
- Anti-Inflammatory properties from the curcumin (source)
- Antioxidant boost (source)
- Enhanced digestion (source)
- Great for immunity (source)
Ingredients
- Ginger: I do not peel the ginger.
- Turmeric: I also do not peel the turmeric root.
- Lemon: High in vitamin C, lemons help boost immunity. It also balances the ginger and turmeric, but is tart. Can also use freshly squeezed orange juice.
- Black Pepper: Enhances absorption of curcumin in turmeric.
You will also need a high powered blender and a fine mesh strainer to make this ginger turmeric shot recipe. I’ve also seen cheesecloth used to strain it, but I found this strainer to be less messy.
How to Make a Ginger Turmeric Shot
- Add everything to a blender. Blend.
- Strain through a fine mesh strainer.
- Enjoy immediately.
Ayla’s Tip: Be aware, turmeric stains everything!! Be very careful to not spill and immediately rinse everything the turmeric comes into contact with.
These shots are best enjoyed within 3-4 days for maximum freshness and nutrient retention. While they’ll still taste great afterward, their nutritional value will begin to diminish. If you want to make them in bulk, freeze the shots in ice cube trays (which will be stained!).
