I am SO excited to be sharing my very first Gift Guide! Christmas is such a wonderful time of the year, and I really do love the gift giving season. Gift giving is one of my love languages so it means so much to me to be able to pick out a present for someone that you know is going to fill them with joy.
Trying to be more eco-conscious is something I’ve really been working on. I put together a list for an eco-friendly gift guide you can give to anyone in your life that they are sure to love (myself included LOL).
If you’re looking for a cute way to package up multiple of these items checking out my blog on DIY Gift Boxes.
Without further adieu.. Here are my 10 eco-friendly gifts 2019 suggestions (with a couple bonus’ thrown in!).
1 Reusable Coffee Cup | 2. Reusable Straws | 3. Loose Leaf Tea Accessories 4. Kitchen Storage Items | 5. Grocery Shopping Accessories | 6. Shampoo and Conditioner Bars | 7. Nest Thermostat | 8. Matt and Nat Vegan Bags 9. Saje Wellness | 10. An Experience
1 Reusable Coffee Cup
One of the easiest eco-friendly gifts is a reusable coffee mug. I LOVE this one from Amazon. It’s so cute and sleek! Coffee mugs are a great gift because they can be so personalized!
And the other product I find REALLY helps with trying reduce coffee cup waste is having some of the reusable Starbucks cups you can buy. You can easily keep a stack of these in your car and then when you use one, bring it in the house to wash and bring it back. So easy and they don’t take up a lot of space! The best place to buy these is in your local Starbucks!
2 Reusable Straws
There are many different kinds of reusable straws. When it comes to drinking I don’t prefer metal whether it be a stainless steel carafe or straws, so I was thrilled when other types if straws started coming out. My favorite glass straws can be found here or I love these silicone ones which both come with a carrying bag and cleaning brushes. If you are interested in the stainless steel ones these ones have a great variety and come with a cleaning brush and carrying bag for a great price!
3 Loose Leaf Tea Steeper
As much as I love my coffee, we also LOVE tea in our household. We buy loose leaf tea all the time. There are individual use tea steepers, but why use disposable when you can use these adorable reusable tea bags!
4 Kitchen Storage Items
There are so many alternatives that are eco-friendly for kitchen items. Beeswax wraps are a great alternative to plastic wrap. These beeswax wraps are so stylish and very functional. They’re good to cover bowls or store vegetables. And as a replacement to ziplocks I love these reusable silicone storage bags.
5 Grocery Shopping Accessories
This might seem like a silly category but when speaking to my friends, grocery shopping accessories is something we are all looking for! For starters a cute grocery bag is always great. This Etsy shop out of Vancouver has the cutest reusable bags! The other item that can be so useful is these reusable produce bags. The single use plastic produce bags always feel like the biggest waste to me but sometimes they are necessary… So step in the reusable ones!
Lastly, I love to shop bulk products as much as I can. One tip I learned is if you have at home containers that you can’t bring to the store, bring mason jars! Then you can fill them up and don’t need to use plastic bags to bring home your bulk product. This is such an excellent trick to reduce all kinds of packaging waste. I like to have a variety of mason jars on hand for all kinds of stock!
6 Shampoo and Conditioner Bars
Did you know that 552 million shampoo and conditioner bottles end up in landfills EVERY YEAR just in the US alone?! By switching to shampoo and conditioner bars, you are eliminating tons of plastic! Unwrapped life has an amazing selection of bars that are suited for every hair type! This was definitely on my Christmas Wish List.
7 Nest Thermostat
The Nest Thermostat will feel extra good because it’s good not just for the environment, but your wallet 😉 With extra smart technology it automatically adapts to your lifestyle to learn when to save energy.
8 Matt and Nat Vegan Bags
Matt and Nat bags are all vegan and the inside linings are all made with recycled plastic bottles. This is a pretty gift you can feel good about! (And how cute is the color on this bag?!)
9 Saje Wellness
I cannot say enough good things about Saje. For starters I love the natural healing with Saje products. Their Peppermint Halo is my all time favorite product. It works (natural) wonders on my headaches as well as my sore muscles. I also love their cleaning products. The Multi-Clean does an incredible job, smells fantastic, and is all natural.
