I love to use seasonal fruits as much as possible over the summer, and strawberries are always abundant in our house over the season. Whether it be fresh strawberry pancakes, strawberry rhubarb muffins, or these overnight oats, the uses are endless!
Ingredients
Overnight oats with strawberries is an easy make-ahead breakfast using simple ingredients and easily customizable to your preference!
- Oats: Use rolled oats (also known as old-fashioned oats) for the best consistency. Quick oats tend to get mushy.
- Milk: Use your favorite milk! Anything will work, whether it be dairy milk, almond milk, oat milk, or any other kind of milk.
- Yogurt: I use plain Greek yogurt for an added protein boost without all of the sugar, but you can use whatever you have on hand.
- Chia Seeds: Chia seeds help thicken the overnight oats. They are also a nutritional powerhouse! They contain fiber, protein, omega-3 fatty acids, and antioxidants.
- Maple Syrup: Add as much or as little as you like to taste.
- Vanilla: Adds a delicious flavor.
- Salt: I find a pinch of salt really helps all the flavors pop and balances out the sweetness.
- Strawberries: Ripe, red strawberries will have the best flavor!
Variations: Sliced bananas go really well with strawberries, or add your favorite berry like raspberries or blueberries to switch it up. To give these overnight oats a strawberry shortcake vibe, add a splash of almond extract. Sprinkle in some chocolate chips or stir in some cocoa powder for a little treat in the morning.
