This post will break down how to draw some common headers you can use in your bullet journal!
When I started out bullet journalling I would try and replicate headers, fonts, and other adorable doodles I would see. I realized very quick it is not always as easy as it seems!
I would try and replicate the same drawing and it would take me 6 tries even though I had an example right in front of me! I thought I was going crazy. And then I talked to a new bullet journal-er and realized that it is common. So I thought I would break down how to draw bullet journal headers.
These headers can be used when setting up any monthly or annual bullet journal collection. For examples of different monthly collections you can visit here. Or you can check out annual collection ideas here!
Without further ado here are 8 different bullet journal headers….
How to Draw Bullet Journal Headers
In each picture I go step by step on how to draw the header.
Look for the grey marker in each step to know what to draw next!
The first one is a classic ribbon banner. I use a variation of this all the time!
The second header I’ll use for one word titles like a month!
Next is this adorable flag banner. For this banner I would put a letter in each flag. This is adorable for one word titles like a month or when you need a planning page.
This fourth one here can be used if you need more room to write. You could really elongate the boxes to put as long of a title as you would like!
A shadow box is a very common technique. Often I will use this not just in a header or banner, but on any box I may use. This include calendars, trackers, and weekly spread boxes.
Here are another two variations on shadow boxes. Simple but practical!
Lastly, this is a geometric header that could add a little pizzaz to any page. This one you could also make as big or small as you want to fit any title size.
Do you have a favorite? I use the classic ribbon banner all the time. But I really want to try to incorporate the flag banner more often!
What else would you like to see a breakdown of?!
