Summer is coming and I can’t get enough of these fun smoothie bowls! When the heat is coming and I’m looking for a way to cool down, smoothie bowls are a healthy but still yummy option. I find these smoothie bowls keep me from turning to sugar filled slurpees or ice cream.
Not only are they delicious in itself, but you can add any variation of toppings that will give so many more health benefits. Here are some of my favorite smoothie bowl toppings: fruit, coconut, hemp hearts, chia seeds, pumpkin seeds, flax seeds… Okay any kind of seed will do!

What is Blue Majik?
For starters you may be wondering what on earth is this blue stuff turning the smoothie this wonderful color?! That is spirulina or blue majik.
Blue Majik is a derviative of the blue-green algae spirulina. It is phycocyanin (which is a pigment-protein complex) extracted from spirulina.
So does it matter if you’re using blue majik vs spirulina? No, not really. But I do find using spirulina has more of a green tint as opposed to blue!
Benefits of Spirulina
Spirulina is a relatively new and trendy superfood that has many benefits…
- Full of nutrients including protein, vitamin B1, vitamin B2, vitamin B3, iron, and omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids.

- Spirulina is heart healthy! Studies have shown that it lowers bad cholesterol and raises good cholesterol levels

What Can Blue Majik be used in?
I find the blue majik or spirulina to not have a crazy strong flavor which makes it easy to add to a variety of things.
- Protein Balls
- Overnight Oatmeal
- Smoothies
Or sprinkle in a little into a Shamrock Shake for a healthy boost!
Tropical Blue Majik Smoothie Bowl
Equipment
- High Power Blender
Ingredients
- 2 Tsp Blue Majik
- 1 Banana
- ¾ Cup Almond Milk
- 1 Tsp Sweetener I used agave
- ¾ Cup Frozen Pineapple
Smoothie Toppings
- Banana, Sliced
- Flaked Coconut
Instructions
- Add all ingredients to high power blender. Blend until smooth
- Add smoothie to bowl. Top with desired toppings.
